Kovacs ends one term and starts another in state groups Port Aransas City Manager Michael Kovacs has completed his presidential term in one organization and has begun a vice presidential term in another. On June 7, Kovacs finished his twoyear term as president of Region 9 of the Texas City Management Association. Handing off the presidency to Charmelle Garrett, assistant city manager in Victoria, Kovacs moved to the TCMA’s board of directors, where he will serve a two-year term. Statewide, the TCMA has 870 members, including city managers, assistant city managers, academics and consultants. Kovacs also was elected June 4 to be one of three vice presidents of the Texas chapter of the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association. This is his second term on the group’s board of directors. The association is composed of coastal planners, elected officials, managers, engineers and citizen activists “who promote policy initiatives to safeguard our public beaches and shorelines,” Kovacs said. |
