Coast Guard history on Mustang Island will be celebrated The Nueces County Historical Commission will celebrate the history of the United States Coast Guard on Mustang Island on Thursday, June 25, at 10 a.m. in Roberts Point Park. A state historical marker recognizing the Port Aransas Coast Guard command will be commemorated on the east end of the park. The marker is the result of research conducted by Dr. John G. Ford, a Mustang Island historian and head of the Texas historical marker programs in Nueces County. Anita Eisenhauer, president of the NCHC, invites all citizens to attend the event. An unnamed but well-known Port Aransan will be surprised with a special award at the commemoration for his/her historical work. |
