Fishing heats up
COURTESY PHOTOS
Fishing has been about as hot as the weather, with offshore as well as bay anglers reeling in good catches. In the photo above, Miles Stamper, from left, Taylor Hamilton and Matt Reed, all of Port Aransas, fished aboard the High Bid with Capts. Bryan Cody, Aaron Chambers and Keith Stamper on Thursday, June 4. Hamilton caught this dorado and released her first billfish, a white marlin. Cody said he believed it to be the first white marlin this season out of Port Aransas. They also caught tuna and wahoo, and just missed a blue marlin. In the photo at right, Capt. Ronnie Hale Sr. is shown with his first blue marlin on May 31. Usually at the helm, it was a change of pace for Hale to take the reel aboard the Hale Yeah. His son, Capt. Ronnie Hale Jr., put him on the blue that was released. That’s Hale Sr. at left, with Jerrid Haskin and Jacob Perez.
