Air traffic on the rise

A helicopter lifts off at the Mustang Beach Airport, where business is booming. Airport manager Randy Hansen reported that 73 aircraft landed over Memorial Day week, and 80 the next week. Hansen said a typical summer week would see 40 to 50 aircraft. The airport can accommodate 45 aircraft at one time. He said he believes the traffic during the latter part of May is an ‘indicator that the whole summer is going to be busy.’ Most of the aircraft come in from Dallas, Houston, San Antonio or Austin, but there are always a few from Oklahoma, Canada, or anywhere in between.
