Port Aransas will be open to welcome visitors for the Memorial Day holiday weekend, the official start of the summer tourist season.

Few businesses will close since most will be open to serve and sell to the summer visitors.

City hall will be closed Monday, May 25, but regular trash pick up will not be interrupted by the holiday.

ValueBank Texas and Prosperity Bank will take the day off Monday.

The American Bank drive through windows will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., but the lobby will be closed.

The South Jetty office will be closed Monday. The only deadline that will be affected is the letters to the editor, which must be submitted by 11 a.m. Tuesday. Regular deadline is 10 a.m. Monday. Deadline for news and advertising will remain noon on Tuesday.
