FISHING REPORT

Wind predicted to diminish this week

By the time this edition of the paper is in readers' hands, there should be several fish stories in the making.

The wind is predicted to lay down this week, finally. After weeks of pummeling winds, offshore anglers have a window (if the weather forecasts are accurate).

In spite of windy weather fish were still caught this week.

Beverly Stapleton at Offshore Adventures said offshore trips brought in limits of kingfish and shark. Bay anglers caught redfish, "some nice trout," black drum and a few flounder.

Tracy Ingalls at Barnacle Bill's Pier House on Horace Caldwell Pier said anglers have brought in trout, redfish, black drum, sheepshead and several varieties of shark.

John McNatt at Fisherman's Wharf reported offshore catches of amberjack, kingfish and big hammerhead shark. North jetty anglers brought in redfish and speckled trout.

Sandy Martin at Dolphin Dock reported amberjack, vermillion snapper, ling and a 252.5-pound hammerhead shark. The state record is 253 pounds for the scalloped hammerhead. Bay anglers reported gafftop, stingray and redfish.

Scott Garrison at Deep Sea Headquarters said offshore trips brought in yellowfin and blackfin tuna, amberjack, shark and big dorado.

Tom Creighton at Woody's Sports Center reported redfish, trout, shark and gafftop caught by bay anglers.
