Sunset Sounds season opens

Dust off your beach chair and your cooler.

The first Sunset Sounds concert of the season will be held tomorrow, Friday, April 17, at 7 p.m. in the Patsy Jones Amphitheater in Roberts Point Park.

Dicky Neely and his band will perform classic rock and hits of the 50s and 60s, along with blues.

"The public is invited to bring a beverage, snacks and a blanket or beach chairs and enjoy an evening of free musical entertainment," said Pam Greene from the City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department, which sponsors the event monthly from April through October.

The April concert will be held on the third Friday of the month, but all other Sunset Sounds concerts will be held on the second Friday.

Neely, who lives in Flour Bluff, spent most of the 70s in California playing with and listening to many of the blues greats. He returned to the Coastal Bend in the late 70s.

May 8: Alma with Luis Villareal - acoustical

July 10: Aloha Dave & the Tourists - oldies, surf music
