FISHING REPORT

Plenty of fish caught

Despite a windy week, plenty of fish were caught in Port Aransas .

Some large amberjack, lots of kingfish, vermilion snapper and some blackfin were brought in from offshore trips.

Bay catches were almost as good as last week. Lots of big redfish, trout and sheepshead were caught.

Theresa Hornberg at Barnacle Bill's Pier House said anglers on Horace Caldwell Pier have been catching big drum, redfish and some Spanish mackerel.

John McNatt at Fisherman's Wharf reported offshore catches of kingfish, vermillion snapper, amberjack, blackfin tuna, dorado, a 260-pound swordfish and some tile fish, caught in 1,200 feet of water. North jetty anglers have been catching nice redfish.

Sandy Martin at Dolphin Dock recounted a huge blackfin haul on a 36-hour trip.

Scott Garrison at Deep Sea Headquarters said offshore trips brought in kingfish, blackfin tuna, some "monster amberjack," vermillion snapper, sharks and African pompano.

Tom Creighton at Woody's Sports Center said bay anglers have been catching some nice sand trout, sheepshead and redfish.
