The weather and fishing don't get too much better than the past week in Port Aransas. Some huge wahoo were caught offshore and a fortune in blackfin were brought in, along with the odd amberjack, yellowfin, and the always-plentiful vermillion snapper and kingfish. More ... Albert J. Brackston Hunt of Taft reeled in this 95-pound wahoo while fishing aboard the Gulf Eagle with Capt. Keith Schoolcraft out of Deep Sea Headquarters on Friday, March 20. These anglers had a great day on the 12-hour trip aboard the Adventurer out of Offshore Adventures on Tuesday, March 17. Sunshine, blue water and 19 blackfin tuna made everyone smile. Cabela's Texas Redfish Series will hold its first redfish tournament of the 2009 season here on Saturday, March 28, at the Fred Rhodes Memorial Pavilion at Roberts Point Park. The Texas Redfish Series will host five fishing tournaments across the Gulf coast in 2009, with a total purse of more than $250,000. More ... The Port Aransas Rod and Reel Club placed second in the 69th annual International Light Tackle Tournament Association tournament in Los Suenos, Costa Rica, March 1 through 8.
