Give blood.

The bloodmobile from the Coastal Bend Blood Center will be in Port Aransas on Wednesday, Feb. 25. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the bloodmobile will be in the Port Aransas High School parking lot, 100 N. Station St.

According to the blood center, three gallons of blood is needed every minute in the U.S. One unit of blood can save three lives.

The most needed type is O, as it is universal, or can be given to people of any blood type.

All blood types are needed, however.

Donors must be 17 or older, in good health, not pregnant or on antibiotics, have 12.5 gm/dl of hemoglobin and not have given whole blood in the past eight weeks nor double red cells in the past 16 weeks.
