PAISD program

The Port Aransas Independent School District tennis program is richer by $1,900 as a result of the third annual Cupid Invitational Tennis Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 7.

The tournament fielded four flights of play featuring beginner, intermediate and advanced players.

No ad scoring was employed, and round robin matches were composed of four games. Winners were players who won the most number of games.

In flight one, first place winner was Fred Samudio of Port Aransas. In second place was Elizabeth Lyons of Ingleside

Irfan Kardas of North Padre Island in Corpus Christi won first place in the second flight. Sharon Halloway of Port Aransas finished in second place.

Tracy Morales of Rockport took first place in flight three, while Cecilia Fox of Port Aransas was second.

Eren Fries of Port Aransas was the winner of flight four, and Galen Faulconer of Port Aransas and Tyler won second place.

"I was very pleased with the turn- out for the tournament. It went very smoothly and I think everyone had a good time. The kids worked really hard to help me put it on, and I am so proud of them. I couldn't have done it without their help, said tennis coach Piper Boies.

She expressed appreciation for all who played and the tournament sponsors.

"Your support of our program is greatly appreciated."
