Concert on Monday to feature sounds of flamenco, bossa nova

Flamenco and bossa nova music will heat things up at the Winter Sounds concert Monday, Feb. 16.

The concert, which is free and open to the public, will be at the Civic Center, 710 W. Ave. A., from 7 to 9 pm.

Lela Caldwell, a 1999 PAHS graduate, and Daniel Rosales will perform Nuevo flamenco and bossa nova guitar music.

Caldwell said the bossa nova pieces are Brazilian music popular in the late 1960s. The Nuevo flamenco is influenced by Spanish style rhythm.

A variety of music will be performed: fast and rhythmic, easy listening, Latin jazz and Mexican folk rock.

Caldwell and Rosales are music majors at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi and are classical guitarists.

The concert series is sponsored by the City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department.
