VFW hog roast, auction are Saturday

Eat some hog, benefit the young and maybe win a prize, all in one night.

The Moore-McDonald Veterans of Foreign Wars post 8967 will host its annual auction, hog roast and prize drawing on Saturday, Feb. 14.

Donations of items for the auction and drawing are being accepted now, and may be dropped of at the VFW post, 311 N. Alister St.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the post's scholarship fund for Port Aransas High School graduating seniors and the post's building fund. Last year $4,000 in scholarships were donated.

The auction of donated items will begin at noon with auctioneers Larry Born, Claude George and Roy Montgomery.

The smoked pork dinner will be served at 4 p.m. A donation of $7 per plate is requested. Extra parking and curbside to-go food pickup will be available.

The prize drawing will be at 6 p.m. Five prizes include a 40-inch Polaroid HDTV, an Acer mini laptop computer, a TomTom GPS, a $200 gift card and a $100 gift card.

Music by Tequila Sunrise will follow the drawing and continue until 10 p.m.

Prize drawing tickets are available at the VFW for $2 each or six for $10. You need not be present to win.

Items donated for the auction may be dropped off at the post.
