FISHING REPORT
Fishing picked up
      Offshore fishing picked up a little this week, and the floater trips had large yields. Some big grouper and tuna, plenty of amberjack and at least one wahoo were caught, as well as kingfish and vermilion snapper. Jim Baima of Collinsville, Ill., and Port Aransas has been limiting out on sheepshead on the north jetty almost daily.

      Blue Shodrock, 14, of Port Aransas caught this 44-pound black drum with a bow and arrow while bow fishing in Island Moorings on Saturday, Jan. 17.

      Jim Baima of Collinsville, Ill. and Port Aransas, left, reeled in this Warsaw grouper, estimated to be around 100 pounds, on Saturday, Jan 24. He fished a 42-hour trip aboard the Gulf Eagle with Capts. Keith Schoolcraft and Nate Forbes out of Deep Sea Headquarters.

      These anglers took a 56-hour tuna trip that left Friday, Jan. 23, on the Scat Cat with Capts. Ronnie Hale and Donnie Lueck out of Fisherman's Wharf. They caught these yellowfin tuna, blackfin tuna, amberjack and a grouper

State eyes flounder closure
