FISHING REPORT
Usual suspects caught
      Offshore fishing was good this week, with lots of kingfish and amberjack caught. Bays are yielding all the usual suspects: redfish, trout, sheepshead and black drum. With the improvements in the weather predicted this week, fishing should be good just about anywhere.

Amberjack smack
      Dale Abbott and friends fished a 20-hour trip aboard the Gulf Eagle out of Deep Sea Headquarters with Capts. Keith Schoolcraft and Nate Forbes on Thursday, Jan. 15. Everyone on board limited out on big amberjack. The crew dubbed the trip the 'Amberjack Smack.

Albino sailfish sighted
      Several Port Aransans were fishing off the coast of Costa Rica on Jan. 5 when they were shocked to see a rare albino sailfish swimming next to their boat. Kelly Owens captured images of the unusual creature on videotape.

Angler's delight
      These anglers fished a nine-hour trip aboard the Scat Cat out of Fisherman's Wharf with Capt. Ronnie Hale on Saturday, Jan. 17, bringing in these kingfish and dorado.
