Edith Lucille Charles, 89, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, in Colorado Springs, Colo.

She was the mother of Larry (Beverly) Charles of Port Aransas,

Charles was born May 11, 1919, in Stockton, Mo., to Grace and Austin O'Dell.

In 1938 she married Jess C. Charles in Colby, Kan. The couple moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1942.

Charles worked for 28 years in school food service, retiring in 1980.

She is also survived by a daughter, Judy (Jake) Jackson of Valley Center, Kan.; another son, Ken (Ardyce) Charles of Colorado Springs; two sisters, Elizabeth Smith of Colorado Springs and Nelda Reed of Lebanon, Ore.; 13 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, six siblings and her parents.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 6, in Colorado Springs.
