      As the new year opens up, staff and students at Brundrett Middle School will focus more intently on achieving great results on the TAKS test. The TAKS test is the primary factor that most affects our accountability ratings from the state; how much that affects our parents and community's view of the school is harder to tell.

Coeckelenbergh earns degrees at Angelo State
      Sean E. Coeckelenbergh, a 2004 graduate of Port Aransas High School, graduated from Angelo State University on Saturday, Dec. 13, at ceremonies in San Angelo. Coeckelenbergh earned a Bachelor of Arts in French with a minor in Spanish and a Bachelor of Science in biochemisty with a minor in chemistry, graduating cum laude.

Four residents earn TAMU-CC degrees
      Four Port Aransas residents earned degrees from Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi during fall commencement ceremonies. Diplomas were awarded Saturday, Dec. 20, at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi with Dr. Frank B. Ashley III, vice chancellor for academic affairs for the Texas A&M University System as keynote speaker.

Old fashioned western next feature at P.A. Movie Time
      An old-fashioned western is on the schedule for P.A. Movie Time Saturday, Jan. 10. The free showing of "Carson City Kid," starring Roy Rogers, will be in the city council chambers inside the Civic Center, 710 W. Ave. A. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the movie will begin at 6:55 p.m.
