New year may bring changes
      The Texas Legislature is coming back Jan. 13, and change may be in the air. The Sunset Advisory Commission, by a narrow margin, recently voted to abolish the five-member commission that oversees the Texas Department of Transportation and replace it with a single commissioner.

      Port Aransas lost a good friend the day after Christmas. Bob Clark, referred to as "Big Bob" by many because of his large stature, was a businessman who shared his financial success with the Port Aransas community - usually causes that involved children.

The difference a day makes
      The difference How is it that a Christmas tree that was drop-dead gorgeous on Dec. 25 looks drab and dated on Dec. 26? It must be the magic of Christmas. We put up our tree the day after Thanksgiving. If you're going to that much trouble, you might as well enjoy it for a while. OK, full disclosure. Murray puts up the tree.
