Godspell Jr. playing

For the next two weekends PACT will perform Godspell Jr., a Broadway Junior musical production depicting the stories of John the Baptist, Jesus and Judas. The Port Aransas Community Theater (PACT) production opened Thursday, July 10.

According to Tim McDonald, project director of Broadway Junior, "in 90 minutes the show covers major episodes in the Bible including the baptism of Jesus, the Last Supper, the arrest and crucifixion using a variety of theatrical styles."

Broadway Junior is a division of Music Theatre International that adapts Broadway musicals into special editions for actors age eight to 14.

The cast, comprised of actors under age 18, includes Aaron Cooper, Ty Morris, Laurelin Brody, Chase Hagedorn, Claire Jones, Aaron Kenigsberg, Trey Miles, Jenna Ward, Cathryn Yarborough, Heather Youngblood, Morgan Milligan, Emma Shannon and Cas Ward. The tech crew, also youths, are Jason Morris, Alex Cooper and Brook Lane. Marsha Owen will direct.

Performances are scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, July 17-19, and next week, July 24-26 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, July 27 at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets may be purchased at the theatre box office, 2327 State Hwy. 361, Monday through Friday, from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

They can also be purchased 45 minutes before each performance, and may be reserved by calling 749- 6036.

Tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for children under 18.

Tickets may no longer be purchased at the Tourist Bureau location on Cotter Street.
