Teller

Laquita Marcy "Kitty" Teller died Friday, July 11, 2008. She was the mother of Port Aransas resident Marc Teller and the cousin of Marcy Matthews Ward Thomas, also a Port Aransas resident.

Teller was born in Beloit, Kan. on June 10, 1932, to the late Merle and Flossie Marcy. Merle Marcy was brother to late, long-time Port Aransas residents Opel Marcy and Verda Marcy Matthews. Teller's brother, Billy Marcy, predeceased her 1997.

In December of 1947, she married Clarence "Mulligan" Teller, who was born in Port Aransas in 1925. He was a life long tug boatman and died in 1985.

The Tellers lived in Port Aransas until 1959 when they moved to Ingleside. In 1996 they moved to Panama. They moved to George West in 1984, then Teller moved to Mathis in 1999 where she lived until her death.

Teller was a master quilter and seamstress and was active in arts and crafts for many years. She was a member of the George West quilting guild, the Penwomen's Society and was a prize winning artist while in Panama.

She converted to the Catholic church in 1958 and remained a life-long Catholic. The Tellers were instrumental in the building of the Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ingleside.

She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, Clarence Hans Teller and is survived by three children; her son, Marc (Nancy Smith); Cristi (Louis Hilzinger); and Dr. David Crockett Teller (Sherry); seven grandchildren; Schiovahn Teller Lydston and Mary Teller, Laquita Marca Hilzinger, Leah Zapata, Michael, Dave, and Laura Crabtree; and three great-grandchildren; Cristi and Katherine Zapata and Fiona Lydston.

A memorial service was held on Monday, July 14, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Port Aransas
