Peterson
Israel Lilbourne "Pete" Peterson IV died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at home in Port Aransas surrounded by his family. He was 77.

Peterson was born to Alice Brazelton Peterson and Col. I. L. Peterson III, on Nov. 9, 1930 in Waco. He was raised in Dallas, and attended the Highland Park Schools, Jesuit College Preparatory, The Citadel and Southern Methodist University, where he competed in swimming and diving programs. He later shared his aquatic passion with friends and family at Lake Dallas, Lake Travis and on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico.

He was a commercial Real Estate broker for the State of Texas, specializing in the sales of ranches and raw land for development in Dallas, Austin and Port Aransas. He was instrumental in the sale of the Davenport Ranch and the Dudley Prade Ranch. His last Austin sale was a 200-acre ranch on the waterfront of Lake Travis, developed as Loweman's Crossing in Lakeway, a leisure community where Peterson Lane will memorialize his work. Peterson relocated to Port Aransas and worked with Coldwell Banker.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Margaret "Peggy" Peterson; five children, Peggy (Jack) Seaquist, Gwendolyn (Bret) Phillips, Thomas Peterson, John (Rosie) Peterson and Katharine (Greg) Goodman;14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Peterson's ashes will be spread at sea in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends "wiggle their toes in the sand and say a prayer for Sweet Pete."
