Ruff

Elizabeth Jenny Ruff, 82, of Port Aransas and Florida, died Monday, July 14, 2008.

She was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1926 to Stanley B. and Helen Charlotte Kelly.

Through 63 years of marriage, she and her husband, Don Ruff traveled world wide.

Ruff was preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Kelly.

In addition to her husband, survivors include three daughters: Sandra (Robert) Clark and Barbara (Frank) Culp, both of Port Aransas, and Elizabeth (Larry) Duvall of Louisville, Ky.; two sons: Donald ( Annette) Ruff Jr. of Brighton, Mich. and Richard Ruff of Toledo, Ohio; one sister, Kathy Crites of Englewood, Fla.,; six grandchildren and  four great-grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m., today, Thursday, July 17, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 100 N. Station St.

 

Teller

Laquita Marcy “Kitty” Teller died Friday, July 11, 2008. She was the mother of Port Aransas resident Marc Teller and the cousin of Marcy Matthews Ward Thomas, also a Port Aransas resident.

Teller was born in Beloit,  Kan. on June 10, 1932, to the late Merle and Flossie Marcy. Merle Marcy was brother to late, long-time Port Aransas residents Opel Marcy and Verda Marcy Matthews. Teller’s brother, Billy Marcy, predeceased her 1997.

In December of 1947, she married Clarence “Mulligan” Teller, who was born in Port Aransas in 1925. He was a life long tug boatman and died in 1985.

The Tellers lived in Port Aransas until 1959 when they moved to Ingleside. In 1996 they moved to Panama. They moved to George West in 1984,  then Teller moved to Mathis in 1999 where she lived until her death.

Teller was a master quilter and seamstress and was active in arts and crafts for many years. She was a member of the George West quilting guild,  a member of the Penwomen’s Society and a prize winning artist while living in Panama.

She converted to the Catholic church in 1958 and remained a life-long Catholic. The Tellers were instrumental in the building of the Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ingleside.

She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, Clarence Hans Teller, and is survived by three children: her son, Marc (Nancy Smith) Teller; Cristi (Louis) Hilzinger; and Dr. David Crockett (Shery) Teller; seven grandchildren:  Schiovahn Teller Lydston, Mary Teller, Laquita Marca Hilzinger, Leah Zapata, Michael, Dave and Laura Crabtree; and three great-grandchildren: Cristi and Katherine Zapata and Fiona Lydston.

A memorial service was held on Monday, July 14, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Port Aransas

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bill Ellis Memorial Library, 700 W. Ave. A, Port Aransas, TX 78373.

 

Strickland

Randall A. “Randy” Strickland, 44, died Friday, July 11, 2008. He was a resident of Port Aransas since 1967.

Strickland was born in Dallas on Sept. 20, 1963, and moved to Port Aransas in 1967.

He worked in several Port Aransas restaurants, including the Waterfront Restaurant, Marcel’s, and The Restaurant at Port Royal Resort.

Strickland is survived by his wife, Jan Hosfelt of Port Aransas; his mother, Mary Anne Arrington of Port Aransas;  three uncles: Sam (Sharon) Arrington of Aransas Pass, Phil (Sara) Arrington of Phoenix, Ariz., and Steve (Charr) Arrington of Alvin; and several cousins.

A memorial service was held on Monday, July 14, at the Church of Christ in Port Aransas.
