PORT ARANSAS PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT

Unless otherwise noted, activities listed will be held at the Girl Scout hut, 739 W. Ave. A, are for children age five and up, and cost $2 for the first child, $1 for additional children. Parents are welcome at no charge. Call 749-4158 two days in advance to register.

•Book Buddies- Earn prizes from the Hooks team for reading. Bring a favorite stuffed animal to share a reading adventure, books and pillows provided, 10 a.m.

• Basketball shooting contest, all ages, 2 p.m. H.G. Olsen Elementary School Gym, 100 S. Station St.

• Dog races at Community Park, 700 Clark Parkway, 10 a.m. Dogs will compete by size to see who is fastest.

•Story Hour- ages 2-7, Ellis Memorial Library every Saturday 10:30-11 a.m.

Monday, June 30

•Bird Buzz- Meet some birds and learn to care for them. 10 a.m.

•Board Bonanza- Board game play, 2 p.m.

Tuesday, July 1

• Family sailing aboard the Isla- 9 a.m. to noon. Bring a lifejacket (required), $6.50 per person, meet at Woody's Sport Center, 136 W. Cotter. Pre-registration at parks and rec is required.

• Houligans- Radical rowdy fun. Learn skills to play, 2:30 p.m.

Wednesday, July 2

• Volley Big Ball- Play volleyball with a big ball in the H.G. Olsen gym, 10 a.m.

•Art Adventure- Art Center and parks and rec art classes, 1 - 3:30 p.m., ages 5 and older, $5 per child.

• Summer Reading- Ellis Memorial Library, 10 to 11 a.m., ages 4-9, reading and crafts, no charge.

Thursday, July 3

•Tower Tumblers- Fun for all ages. Stack 'em up, knock 'em down.H.G Olsen Elementary School gym, 10 a.m.
