Wetlands workshop offered for children The City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a science workshop for the little ones, too, Monday through Friday, June 23-27, from 2 to 4 p.m. Wee One Wetlands, for kids 5-8 years old, will be held at the Girl Scout Hut, 739 W. Ave. A. Activities will include a workshop on native plants and wetlands, creating a miniature wetland, planting and a nature walk. The children will learn what plants are good for Port Aransas and which one are not, and study the wetlands and all its plants and creatures. A snack will be provided each day.Wee Ones Wetlands was created and will be presented by Ashley Hawes of Port Aransas as part of the requirements for earning her Gold Award, the highest in Girls Scouting.
