Bujan continues cable complaints

Saying the lack of response from a Charter Communications spokesman is an indication of the company's lack of customer service, City Councilman Charles Bujan will once again bring up the subject of the city's cable TV provider when the council meets tonight, Thursday, June 19.

Bujan said a Charter Communications representative was tentatively scheduled to be at the June council meeting, but could not make it. The representative won't be able to make the July meeting either, Bujan said.

"It says to me, 'We're not too interested (in providing customer service).' I'd like to explore other possibilities with Time Warner (Cable) or with CableOne," Bujan said. "I'm still getting complaints. I just got one this morning (Tuesday, June 17)."

Bujan had earlier asked the council to explore the possibility of rescinding Charter's franchise as the city's cable provider and choose a different provider instead. However, City Manger Michael Kovacs pointed out that the state now issues cable TV franchises, and that individual cities have little say over who their cable providers are.

Bujan had also asked Port Aransas residents to email him their complaints about Charter Communications. His email address is charlesbujan@hotmail. com.

Kovacs said while the city staff has forwarded all complaints the city has received, and has requested Bujan's complaints to forward to the Charter office, the city has received no response.
