FISHING REPORT
Fish are bitin'

 
The cotton may not be high, but the fish are definitely bitin' in Port Aransas this week. A large variety, as well as quantity, have been reported by all. As MaryAnn Heimann, at Offshore Adventures said, "Fishing has really been good this week."

Offshore Adventures reported limits of red snapper, vermilion snapper, kingfish, Atlantic sharpnose shark and scalloped hammerhead shark. A sailfish was released off The Adventurer. Bay guides are catching redfish, big speckled trout and even flounder. According to Heimann, those using live croaker and shrimp as bait in the bay were especially successful.

Ken Reffner at Woody's Sports Center said offshore anglers brought in lots of red snapper, ling, shark and kingfish. Redfish, kingfish, trout and gafftop are being caught in the bays.

Bill Fintel from Barnacle Bill's Pier House on Horace Caldwell Pier saw some big jack crevalle caught with live mullet, lots of big trout in early morning and evening, redfish and blacktip shark.

 
John McNatt of Fisherman's Wharf reports limits of red snapper, lots of kingfish, shark, ling, wahoo, jack crevalle and amberjack being caught offshore. Bay guides and north jetty anglers are still landing lots of redfish.

According to Sandy Martin at Dolphin Dock, offshore trips brought in dorado, wahoo, amberjack, snapper, pompano, yellowfin and blackfin tuna, shark, triggerfish, spadefish and barracuda. The bays have yielded trout, gafftop, shark, stingray, jack crevalle, kingfish and redfish this week.

Deep Sea Headquarters' boats brought in limits of snapper, lots of ling, kingfish, some large grouper, dorado, wahoo, barracuda, a 221- pound hammerhead shark and Atlantic sharpnose shark, according to Bethany Holden.
