Ditched car stolen

Nueces County Precinct 4 deputy constables don't know how a car got into a ditch at Avenue C and Seventh Street, but everything seems to have turned out OK - relatively speaking.

Deputy Constable Kelly Henson was on patrol at 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, when he saw the black Saturn four-door sedan upside-down in the ditch. Stopping to investigate, Henson found nobody in the vicinity and no keys in the vehicle.

"There was a flip-flop in the street, like somebody had left in a hurry," Henson observed.

The car carried paper dealer's plates, and a vehicle check showed the plates belonged to someone in Austin. Henson had the vehicle impounded.

At 11:30 a.m., Malinda Wolfe of Port Aransas reported that her vehicle had been stolen; it was the four-door Saturn.

There's no word on whether the vehicle has been released to Wolfe.
