Man charged with telephone harassment A Corpus Christi man released on bail on charges of making harassing phone calls to Port Aransas City Councilman Keith Donley has now been accused of making similar phone calls to another Port Aransas number. David Misell, 28, was out of jail on $10,000 bond each on charges of making harassing phone calls and making obscene phone calls when he was arrested again on Monday, June 9, said police Lt. Darryl Johnson. Making harassing calls and making obscene calls are two separate crimes under Texas law. The calls to Donley were in October. Johnson said he asked for a subpoena of Donley's phone records and backtracked from those records to identify the phone that was used to make the calls. Misell surrendered on the charges at the Nueces County Jail on Jan. 25 and was released on bond. However, Johnson said other entries in Misell's phone logs showed 22 calls made to the Wash Board Laundry this year. When he investigated, Johnson found that Wash Board employees had also complained of harassing phone calls. Municipal Court Judge Duncan Neblett issued a warrant for Misell's arrest based on those records, and Precinct 4 Deputy Constable Kelly Henson arrested Misell in Corpus Christi, Johnson said. Misell is now charged with more counts of harassing phone calls and obscene phone calls. Bond has been set at $15,000 on each of the two new charges against him, Johnson said. |
