Live concert If a picnic, a lawn chair, a summer breeze and some live music sounds good, head on down to Roberts Point Park on Friday, June 13. The Sunset Sounds concert series, sponsored by Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department, will present the concert tomorrow. This month's scheduled performer, Vickie Cross, is unable to perform this week. The Parks and Recreation department has scheduled instead singer/songwriter Carol Elliott. Elliott has recorded five albums of original songs and a children's CD and performed around the world, including recently to hospitalized soldiers in Israel. She received the Wrangler award from the National Cowboy Hall of Fame for best western song of the year from the National Cowboy Hall of Fame. One of her CDs made the hit music charts in Germany. The concerts begin at 7 p.m. at the Fred Rhodes Memorial Pavilion in Roberts Point Park. They are free and open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to bring a picnic and a chair or blanket. Concerts are scheduled for the second Friday of every month, April through October. The music lineup for the season is: • July 11 - Midnight Rider (R&B, classic rock) • Aug. 8 - Rosewood (country, folk) • Sept. 12 - Eddy Lee Skipworth & Friends (a little of everything) • Oct. 10 - Shirley Fischer & the Mixed Nuts (folk)
