Take A Kid Fishing

Mara and Jason Belcher of Port Aransas show off their catch of a big redfish and a trout.
THE 25TH ANNUAL TAKE A KID FISHING TOURNAMENT held last weekend at Woody's Sports Center was a huge success. There were 146 young anglers fishing in the tournament.

The young fisherfolk enjoyed a shrimp boil on Friday, June 6, a day of fishing on Saturday, June 7 and a hot dog lunch after the weigh-in.

Trophies and special awards were given to the young anglers entered in the tournament. Thomas Ramsden received The Jim Ehman Memorial Redfish Award, and Mara Belcher received the Alan Childress Memorial Sportsmanship Award.

The tournament was sponsored by the Redfish Bay Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA), the Port Aransas Boatmen, Inc., Beeville Fish-out, Woody's Sport Center, Doug Daniell Family and Family Center IGA.
