Variety of species brought in this week

North jetty jackfish
      Chris Boss of San Antonio caught this 40-pound jack crevalle off the north jetty using live shrimp on Tuesday, June 2. The fish took about 30 minutes to land.

      Larry Yoarra from Manchaca caught this 43-pound amberjack on Monday, June 9. He fished aboard the Pelican, out of Deep Sea Headquarters with Capt. Marvin Horner Jr.

      Mike Hagee, left, of Boerne, caught this 110-pound bull shark on Tuesday, June 3. He fished with Capt. Donnie Lueck aboard the Scat Cat out of Fisherman's Wharf.

Tuna tour
      This group went out on a 60-hour trip on the Dolphin, out of Dolphin Dock, with Capts. Travis Kerr and Justin Cortes. They returned on Thursday, June 5, with this haul of blackfin and yellowfin tuna, and dorado.

Happy Monday
      These folks went fishing aboard the Kingfisher out of Deep Sea Headquarters on Monday, June 9, with Capt. Tony Buzbee. They caught shark, kingfish, ling, triggerfish and barracuda on the 10- hour trip.

Powder Puff Tournament kicks off June 20
      The 25th annual Powder Puff Fishing Tournament will be Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21. The women-only tournament has two divisions. In the professional division, more serious anglers fish with a guide. The amateur division is more informal, with no professional guides.

Sailfish released
      Buck Cross of Waco released this sailfish off the Dubl-D on Saturday, May 31. The Dubl-D, docked at Port Aransas, is owned by Dave Hendrick and Derrick Turner, both of Waco.

      THE 25TH ANNUAL TAKE A KID FISHING TOURNAMENT held last weekend at Woody's Sports Center was a huge success. There were 146 young anglers fishing in the tournament.
