Parks and rec department to hold sail classes for kids

Port Aransas has plenty of wind, kids, boats and water. The City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department has decided to put them all together. Two consecutive levels of sailing classes are offered in June to children 10 and older.

Register now for Come Sail Basic and Come Sail Advanced at the Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department office.

Come Sail Basic will be June 4-6, Wednesday through Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Basic rigging, nautical lore and sailing will be taught at the Port Aransas Community Pool, 700 Clark Parkway, off Ross Ave. Spaces are almost full. The fee is $10 per child.

Come Sail Advanced is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday June 10- 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Students will practice open-water sailing skills in the Port Aransas marina. Meet at the main pavilion in Roberts Point Park. Spaces are limited. The fee is $10 per sailor. The Come Sail Basic course completion is a prerequisite for registration.
