Girl, 9, plans projects for heart association

Jade Mouton of Port Aransas is a 9-year-old girl who has heart disease, and she has decided to help other children like herself.

Mouton has set a fundraising goal to donate to the American Heart Association. She has several projects and events planned for the near future.

A garage sale at 1100 Channel Vista on Friday and Saturday, May 30 and 31, will benefit the Heart Association. Donations of items to be sold are being accepted. Mouton plans to hold another sale in July.

She is also planning bake and candy sales, and is currently collecting used printer cartridges, cell phones and laptops to sell back to companies for cash.

Mouton's goal is to raise money and an awareness in the community of children's heart disease.
