Tourney to be held June 6 and 7
Take the time to take a kid fishing
      Kids will kick off the summer of fishing competition with the 25th annual Take A Kid Fishing Tournament on June 6 and 7. It starts with registration and a shrimp boil on Friday, June 6, and continues with fishing and awards on Saturday, June 7.

      Anglers can fish without a license on Saturday, June 7. The "Free Sportfishing Day" will highlight National Fishing and Boating Week, allowing anglers to fish any public waters in Texas without a fishing license.

New Gulf fishing rules take effect this Sunday
      The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council has issued a reminder to anglers that new rules affecting fishing for Gulf reef fish in federal waters take effect Sunday, June 1. The new rules require anglers to use steel circle hooks when fishing with natural baits for Gulf reef fish.

      The Port Aransas Junior Boatmen met at Fisherman's Wharf on Friday, May 16, where Willard McMullin gave a hands-on class on how to clean and filet a fish. The Junior Boatmen was formed for middle and high school boys and girls interested in boating and fishing.
