Summer fun Two day camps will be offered this summer by Port Aransas Independent School District (PAISD) and the Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department. Registration for both begins at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 5, at the parks and recreation office, 739 W. Ave. A, on a first come, first served basis. Spaces are limited. Discovery Camp, for those entering grades one and two, offers activities including arts and crafts, science, sports, games and more in an age-appropriate setting with trained counselors. This half-day camp will meet 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 9-13 and 23-27, and July 7-11 and 21- 25. Pre-registration is required. Fees are $48 for the first child, $42 for the second and $38 for the third. Each child should bring a sack lunch, tennis shoes and a smile, said a spokesman for the parks and recre- ation department. Explorer Camp will offer activities for those entering grades three through five. Explorers will learn about weather, knot tying, art, cooking, boating safety, first aid and dramatics as well as play games, make crafts, go to the swimming pool and more. Explorer Camp will meet 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, June 9-13 and 23-27, and July 7-11 and 21-25. Pre-registration is required. Fees are $45 for the first child, $35 for the second and $25 for the third. Each child should bring a sack lunch, swimsuit, towel, sunblock, change of clothes and a smile, the spokesman said. Swim lessons are not included in the Explorer Camp program.
