Kingfish abound offshore, season's first sailfish caught
      While redfish and trout still reign in the bays, kingfish rule the offshore domain this week. Almost every boat house reported excellent catches of kingfish. Two swordfish were brought into Fisherman's Wharf to add some variety.

Soldier's prize
      Specialist Jonathan Cantu of San Antonio was on leave from Camp Victory in Baghdad, Iraq, when he caught this 21-pound redfish. He fished aboard the Dolphin Express on a 10-hour trip out of Dolphin Dock on Tuesday, May 13.

      This group from Edmund Jenschke, Inc. in Kerrville went fishing with Capt. Tim Oestreich aboard the Dolphin Express on Saturday, May 17. The 12-hour trip out of Dolphin Dock yielded kingfish, jackfish, shark and snapper.

      A "Free Sportfishing Day" will highlight National Fishing and Boating Week, allowing anglers to fish any public waters in Texas without a fishing license on Saturday, June 7.

Double boat bonus
      The Alterman Electric group of San Antonio fished aboard the Pelican with Capt. Marvin J. Horner Jr. and the Kingfisher with Capt. Brian Cody out of Deep Sea Headquarters on Saturday, May 17. They caught limits of kingfish, vermilion snapper and Atlantic sharpnose shark.
