Ford is first recipient of new writing award
Laughing Gull Writing Contest coordinator Ruth Asher introduced a new award at the reception for winning writers on April 13. The Laughing Gull Heritage Award was presented for a nonfiction piece tied to the history and heritage of Port Aransas.
The winner is John Guthrie Ford, for his nonfiction account of "The Dune Guns of Port Aransas," which he read to the audience.
This account is included in the anthology of Laughing Gull winners, which can be purchased at the Art Center, Blue Moon Video and Port Aransas Business Center.
