One charged, one sought in truck burglary at motel
Port Aransas police have arrested a man accused of stealing an ice chest from a pickup truck.
Robert Glen Tatum, 19, of Port Aransas, is charged with burglary of a motor vehicle after a man identified him as one of two people who took an ice chest from his truck on Sunday, May 4.
Port Aransas executive Lt. Darryl Johnson said police were called from the Best Western Inn at 3:52 a.m. Sunday, and told that the victim had been awakened by a noise. When he looked out, he told officers, he saw the two men taking the ice chest from his truck and putting it in another truck.
Johnson said Detective Mark Stokes and Officer J.D. Hinojosa checked the area, and Stokes found Tatum, who fit the description of one of the men. The victim identified Tatum as one he had seen, Johnson said. The other man was still at large on Tuesday, May 6.
