Git your 'Boots' on
BAND IS FRIDAY'S SUNSET SOUNDS FEATURE

Grab a picnic, a blanket and a pair of dancin' boots (or flip flops) and head on down to Roberts Point Park on Friday, May 9. The Sunset Sounds concert series will present this month's band, Boots.

The band originally formed as a neighborhood backyard pickin' and singin' group that played just for fun. Member backgrounds vary from dentists and ranchers to physicians and investors. They have come together to produce their special brand of musical fun.

For the past 24 years, Boots has provided charitable organizations with entertainment, saving funds normally spent for big name bands.

Concerts, sponsored by Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department, are scheduled for the second Friday of every month, April through October.

The concerts begin at 7 p.m. at the Fred Rhodes Memorial Pavilion in Roberts Point Park. They are free and open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to bring a picnic and a chair or blanket.

The music lineup for the rest of the season is:

• June 13 - Vickie Cross (gospel, country)

• July 11 - Midnight Rider (R&B, classic rock)

• August 8 - Rosewood (country, folk)

• September 12 - Eddy Lee Skipworth & Friends (a little of everything)

• October 10 - Shirley Fischer & the Mixed Nuts (folk)
