FISHING REPORT Redfish and trout are still flying out of bays into boats
All reports indicate speckled trout and redfish are still flying out of the water and into the boats. Well, a rod or two may come in handy, but catches have been bountiful.
Offshore trips have been somewhat limited by the weather, but those who fished caught mostly snapper, shark and kingfish, with some nice amberjack and ling.
Offshore Adventures reported limits of vermilion snapper, shark and kingfish. Bay guides reported limits of redfish and big speckled trout, black drum and gafftop, according to Peggy Sexton.
Redfish and trout are being caught off the north jetty, according to Gwen Montgomery at Woody's Sports Center. Offshore anglers brought in lots of vermilion snapper and blacktip shark.
Bill Fintel of Barnacle Bill's Pier House, on Horace Caldwell Pier, reported catches of whiting, sheepshead, blacktip shark and redfish.
John McNatt of Fisherman's Wharf reports vermilion snapper, lane snapper, ling and one 263-pound mako shark being caught offshore. Bay guides are still bringing in redfish and speckled trout.
According to Sandy Martin at Dolphin Dock, the 24-hour trip brought in blackfin tuna, amberjack, jackfish and bonita. The bays have yielded speckled trout and redfish.
Deep Sea Headquarters 12-hour trips have brought in vermilion snapper, blacktip shark and big bull reds, according to Bethany Holden. Redfish and speckled trout are still in the bays.
