PASTOR'S PEN
Let's start with Psalm 32:1-2. Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him and in whose spirit is not deceit. (NIV) You are blessed because God has forgiven you of your sin. He sent his son to die on a cross for you and me so we can live in freedom and not guilt and condemnation. All you have to do is pray and ask God to forgive you the wrongs you have done, and he will. Then you start out with a clean slate, a fresh start. Now I would say that is being blessed. What greater blessing than to know that God loves you and forgives you. There are scriptures in the Bible that tell you that God wants you to be prosperous. And that's good. But what if the money runs low or in some cases runs out. Are you still blessed? Yes, you are! It doesn't matter how much money you have, what kind of car you drive or the brand of clothes that you wear. None of that is important to God. It is about knowing that God loves you right where you are. Max Lucado says, "God loves you just the way you are; he just doesn't want you to stay that way." All of us could stand to change at least one thing in our life for the better, so decide to change the way you think about yourself. Let it show in your attitude that you are blessed. Get up in the mornings and instead of saying, "Good Lord, its morning," say, "Good morning, Lord." You are blessed, so start talking like it. Be determined to believe it. So there is no more, "Woe is me." No more, "Nobody likes me, everybody hates me, I'm gonna go eat worms." Here at Island Worship Center we call that the Eeyore Syndrome. Remember that God loves you and wants you to be blessed. I pray that you have a great day, and always know that God loves you and has great things in store for you. |
