FISHING REPORT
Redfish hot, heavy for guides this week

The fishing this week greatly resembles last week, with a few exceptions. Catches of speckled trout are on the rise, and the appearance of Spanish mackerel, dorado and amberjack has been reported.

According to Sandy Martin at

Dolphin Dock, vermilion snapper, blackfin tuna, shark, ling and some amberjack were caught. The bays have yielded lots of speckled trout.

Deep Sea Headquarters 12-hour trips have brought in vermilion snapper and Atlantic sharpnose shark. Redfish are "hot and heavy" in the bays, according to Dan Hurd, and a few more speckled trout than last week were brought in.

Saturday's trip on the Adventurer out of Offshore Adventures brought in vermilion snapper, kingfish, shark and dorado. Anglers have also reported blackfin tuna, amberjack and dorado. Bay guides led customers to limits of redfish and speckled trout, according to Peggy Sexton.

Redfish, black drum, whiting, gafftop and a few sand trout are being caught in the bays, according to Gwen Montgomery out of

Woody's Sports Center. Spanish mackerel were reeled in at the end of the jetties.

Bill Fintel of Barnacle Bill's Pier House, on Horace Caldwell Pier, reported catches of whiting, big sheepshead, bonnet head shark, black tip shark, Spanish mackerel, redfish and big speckled trout.

John McNatt of Fisherman's Wharf reports vermilion snapper, African pompano, and big state water black tip shark being caught offshore. Bay guides are still bringing in redfish and speckled trout.
