Clean it up!
Volunteers invited to help KPAB, GLO clean beach

In a joint effort with the Texas General Land Office (GLO), Keep Port Aransas Beautiful (KPAB) is hosting the 22nd annual Adopt-ABeach Clean-up Saturday, April 26.

For this all-volunteer event, KPAB provides the labor, and the GLO provides the cleaning supplies. Port Aransas volunteers should check in on the beach at Avenue G at 9 a.m. Saturday, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Everyone, including individuals, families and youth groups, is invited to participate. It is an educational opportunity as much as it is a clean-up, according to Bruce Reynolds, KPAB coordinator for the event.

Volunteers will be served hot dogs and beverages, provided by KPAB, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Fred Rhodes Memorial Pavilion at Roberts Point Park in Port Aransas.

The Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Jetty Boat fare for volunteers being transported to St. Joseph Island to clean up that beach. That particular beach detail is filled to capacity, according to Reynolds.

For more information contact Reynolds at (361) 749-0125 or bruce.reynolds@texasadop tabeach.org.

A clean-up is scheduled at Mustang Island State Park, as well. For more information on that event, contact Juan Sanchez or Paul Eubank at (361) 749-5246.
