Speckled trout are in bays
By all accounts, the speckled trout are in. Where sheepshead dominated bay catches just last month, the speckled trout are now being caught.
According to Sandy Martin at Dolphin Dock, vermilion snapper, tuna, shark, kingfish, and some grouper were caught. The bays have yielded lots of speckled trout.
Deep Sea Headquarters trips have brought in kingfish, 80-100 pound black tip sharks and state water snapper. Redfish and speckled trout were brought in from the bays, according to Dan Hurd.
Limits of kingfish and shark with an occasional ling were being hauled in on the Adventurer out of Offshore Adventures. Bay guides led customers to limits of redfish, speckled trout, black drum and a few flounder, according to Mary Ann Heimann.
Redfish, black drum, whiting, gafftop, a few redfish and sand trout are being caught in the bays, according to Gwen Montgomery out of Woody's Sports Center. Ling and Spanish mackerel were reeled in at the end of the jetties. North jetty catches included redfish, speckled trout and still a few sheepshead.
Theresa Hornburg of
Barnacle Bill's Pier House, on Horace Caldwell Pier, reported catches of whiting, sheepshead, pompano, bonnet head shark, and some big speckled trout.
John McNatt of Fisherman's Wharf reports vermilion snapper and state water black tip shark being caught offshore. Bay guides are still bringing in redfish, black drum and speckled trout.
