Port Aransas High School students got a behind-the-scenes look at the production and broadcasting of a Spurs game last week.

Monica Sonnier, the career technologies teacher, and Kate Prejean, the industrial arts teacher, accompanied 22 students to the Texas Technology Students Association (TTSA) Career Day in San Antonio on Tuesday, April 1.

Approximately 200 students from 18 schools attended the conference at the AT&T Center. Students listened to presentations by six department directors, learning about technical careers in broadcasting and production, and the degrees needed to obtain the various positions discussed.

After the conference, students and faculty were invited to stay at the center for dinner and free time in the HEB Fan Fiesta area, then to the Headlines Restaurant for live entertainment.

To top off a busy day, they then attended the Spurs game against the Golden State Warriors. Two students from each school were asked to participate in the pre-game events. Katie Voyles and Reba Armanovs, both sophomores, were asked to participate. Voyles was part of the fan tunnel as players entered the arena, and Armanovs got to be on the court during warm up.
