Ferry shuttle opens for Spring Break with promise of summer service
MEMORIAL DAY REOPENING SCHEDULED
The Port Aransas Ferry Shuttle

is back in service - at least

through Spring Break.

The Corpus Christi Regional

Transportation Authority (RTA)

put the buses back on line on

Saturday, March 8, and will

operate the shuttle through

Tuesday, March 25, according

to an RTA news release.

The buses will run 6-9 a.m.

and 3-6 p.m., seven days a

week on a route that takes them

from the ferry landing along

Cotter Avenue to Alister Street;

then out Alister Street to Beach

Street; on Beach Street to Station

Street; then on Station Street to Lantana Drive and to

the beach and return; out Alister

Street to Avenue G, out 11th

Street to Beach Access Road

1, in to State Hwy. 361; along

State Hwy. 361 to Avenue G;

and then along Avenue G and

Cut-off Road to the ferry landing.

Passengers can board or get

of the bus anywhere along the

route, the RTA said. Fare is 25

center per ride.

Plans also call for ferry shuttle

service to resume "closer to

Memorial Day," the RTA said.

More details will be worked out and announced later.

The ferry shuttle was started

on a trial basis last year to take

workers from the ferry landing

to their job sites. Backers of the

plan said it allowed workers to

avoid waiting in line for ferries,

as they could park their cars in

the Texas Department of Transportation

Park and Ride lot on

Harbor Island, ride the ferry as

pedestrian passengers, and take

the shuttle to work.

The shuttle experiment ended

in October, with the promise

to institute it again during the

summer tourist season.
