'Memory Keeper's Daughter' next for book club discussion
"The Memory Keeper's Daughter" by Kim Edwards will be the library Book Club topic of discussion in April.
The discussion, led by Joyce Williams, will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, at the Bill Ellis Memorial Library, 710 W. Ave. A.
The Book Club, open to the public, meets on the second Tuesday of each month. To reserve a copy of the book to be discussed, contact a staff member at the library circulation desk. A synopsis of "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" follows.
"On a winter night in 1964, Dr. David Henry is forced by a blizzard to deliver his own twins. His son, born first, is perfectly healthy. Yet when his daughter is born, he sees immediately that she has Down's Syndrome. Rationalizing it as a need to protect Norah, his wife, he makes a split-second decision that will alter all of their lives forever. He asks his nurse to take the baby away to an institution and never to reveal the secret."
