Lady Marlin offense falls short The Port Aransas High School Lady Marlins played a good defensive game against the Runge Lady Jackets, but an anemic offense doomed the Lady Marlins to a loss. The Lady Jackets beat the Lady Marlins, 5-2, in a game played at Runge on March 11. "We had runners in position to score several times with solid hits to follow," said Karen Hall, coach of the Lady Marlins. "But Runge made good defensive plays to squash our attempts." The Lady Marlins gave up only two base hits but allowed too many walks, Hall said. On the plus side: Lady Marlins pitcher Jordan Butterfield continues to improve; Katelin Dupnik hit a single and scored; and Alyssa Crawford blasted a double and scored. The Lady Marlins are 2-3 overall and 0-1 in district play. |
