FISHING REPORT
Area fishing has been hit or miss day to day

Pier damage and closings have caused many anglers angst as the two of the favorite fishing spots are unavailable. Meanwhile, offshore trips vary from great one day to no fish caught the next.

Limits of kingfish, Atlantic sharpnose shark and wahoo were caught by fishermen on the 8-hour trips out of Fisherman's Wharf, according to John McNatt. The state water trip this week didn't fare too well in catching. Murky water from rough weather kept north jetty anglers using the Jetty Boat from catching anything but sheepshead.

Brenda Jackson of Dolphin Dock said this dock's offshore catches consisted mainly of state water red snapper, triggerfish, kingfish and grouper. Redfish and black drum were caught closer inshore.

Bay fishermen out of Deep Sea Headquarters, according to Dan Hurd, caught limits of redfish. Floater trips were kept in dock by the rough weather. Limits of kingfish were caught on the shorter trips.

Plenty of bait is being sold out of Offshore Adventures, Peggy Sexton reported, but she hasn't seen many fish come in. The Adventurer is in for service so no offshore trips were taken.

Anglers fishing on the jetties caught redfish, trout and sheepshead, according to Sandra Fudge of

Woody's Sports Center. Fishing on the Island Queen garnered fishermen black drum, sand trout and sheepshead. Black drum were caught in the Corpus Christi Ship Channel and off piers. Bay guides took anglers to redfish and black drum. Offshore catches included kingfish, wahoo and tuna.
