FISHING REPORT
Offshore fishing has been slim this week due to the weather.
Bay and jetty anglers have been a little busier.
Bay guides have brought in all the usual suspects: red and black drum, sheepshead, trout and flounder.
Charlie Zahn of Port Aransas fished off the end of the jetties last weekend and limited out on redfish using soft plastics. His friends, fishing midway down the jetty, limited out on trout, he said.
Zahn also reported anglers catching sheepshead off the jetties using shrimp.
Flounder are still plentiful in the bays if you can stand the cold winds at night.
Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 18-20, nighttime lows will be in the 60s, so if you are after flounder, that would be the time to go.
Offshore boats that went out caught boatloads of yellowfin and blackfin tuna, kingfish and dorado.
John Dunn at Dolphin Dock reported kingfish, vermilion snapper and shark caught on a Saturday offshore trip.
John McNatt at Fisherman's Wharf said that jetty anglers are reporting sheepshead, redfish, trout and black drum.
Scott Garrison at Deep Sea Headquarters said offshore trips are catching blackfin tuna, kingfish, vermilion snapper and Atlantic sharpnose shark. Long floater trips brought back yellowfin and blackfin amberjack and dorado.
